Our Philosophy
The purpose of the AKC Holy Mackerels Swim Team is to foster a competitive group of swimmers who are developing their aquatic skills, teamwork, and principles of good sportsmanship, while promoting Christian values. The most tangible rewards for all swimmers are learning to swim better, improving times, and being more cognizant of teammates and competitors. In addition to building strong minds and bodies, competitive swimming helps to build self-esteem, as swimmers improve their abilities in individual strokes and improve their personal best times.
Objectives
-to sponsor competitive swimming in accordance with League rules with respect for the policies and practices established by the Knights of Columbus, and by volunteering to assist with swim meets, practices, activities and other needed tasks;
-to develop a love for the sport among swimmers involved, showing appreciation for the good efforts of all swimmers, volunteers, officials, supporters, spectators, whether our team or others;
-to advance aquatic skills, teamwork and the principles of good sportsmanship, regardless of the talent shown and of the number of points won.
-to behave consistent with Christian values, in our speech and actions, and to share our faith with officials, swimmers, and spectators through spoken word, good example, caring actions, and a positive attitude.
